1 Timing toothed belt indicator light
Certain imported automobiles that use timing toothed belt transmission and overhead camshafts generally limit the service life of the engine timing toothed belt (approximately 10 million km), and must be replaced at that time. In order to enable maintenance personnel to replace the timing toothed belt on time, the timing belt life indicator "T. BELT" is set on the instrument panel. The following points should be paid attention to during use.
(1) When the indicator light is on, the odometer should be observed immediately. If the accumulated mileage reaches or exceeds 10 million km, the timing toothed belt must be replaced, otherwise the timing toothed belt may break and the engine cannot work normally.
(2) After replacing the new timing toothed belt, remove the rubber plug outside the reset switch on the odometer panel, and press the reset switch inside with a small round rod to make the timing toothed belt indicator light go out. If the indicator light does not go out after the reset switch is operated, it may be that the reset switch is malfunctioning or the line is grounded, and the fault should be repaired and eliminated.
(3) After replacing the new timing belt, remove the odometer and adjust all the readings on the odometer to "0".
(4) If the car has not driven 10 million km, the indicator light is already on, you can press the reset switch to make the timing belt indicator light go out.
(5) If the timing toothed belt is replaced before the indicator light turns on, the odometer should be removed and the interval counter should be reset so that the interval counter in the odometer
The zero position of the counter gear is aligned with its transmission gear.
(6) If only the odometer is replaced without replacing the timing toothed belt, the counter gear should be set to the position of the original odometer.
2 Exhaust temperature warning light
Modern cars have a three-way catalytic converter installed on the exhaust pipe, so the exhaust temperature has increased, but too high exhaust temperature can easily cause damage to the three-way catalytic converter, so this type of car is also equipped with exhaust temperature Alarm device. When the exhaust temperature warning light is on, the driver should immediately reduce the speed or stop the vehicle. After the exhaust temperature drops, the warning light will automatically go out (but after the fusing exhaust temperature warning light is on, if you do not adjust or repair it , Will be on all the time), if the exhaust temperature warning light does not go out, you should find out the cause, and then continue driving after troubleshooting.
3 Brake warning light
The brake warning light is red, and the pattern is a "!" symbol in the circle. If the red brake warning light is on, it indicates that the brake system has the following conditions:
(1) The friction lining of the brake is severely worn;
(2) The brake fluid level is too low;
(3) The parking brake has been tightened (the parking brake switch is closed);
(4) Under normal circumstances, if the red brake warning light is on, the ABS warning light will light up at the same time, because in the case of a failure of the conventional braking system, ABS can not play its due role.
4 Brake anti-lock brake warning light
The anti-lock brake warning light is yellow (or amber), and the pattern is "ABS" inside the circle.
For cars equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS), when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, the ABS warning light on the dashboard will light up for 3 s 6 s. This is the self-checking process of ABS, which is a normal phenomenon. . Once the self-check process is over, if the ABS is normal, the warning light will go out. If the ABS warning light continues to illuminate after the self-check, it means that the ABS electronic control unit has detected a fault that is not conducive to the normal operation of the anti-lock braking system (for example, when the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h, the wheel speed sensor signal is abnormal), Or EBV (Electronic Brake Force Distribution System) has been closed. In this case, if you continue to drive, because the function of the brake system has been affected, the electronic brake force distribution system no longer adjusts the braking force of the rear wheels. The danger of an accident should be overhauled.
When the vehicle is running, the ABS warning light flashes or lights up to indicate different degrees of failure. Flashing indicates that the failure has been confirmed and stored by the ECU; if it lights up, it indicates that the ABS function has been lost. If the braking performance of the car is found to be abnormal while driving, but the ABS warning light does not light up, it means that the fault lies in the mechanical and hydraulic parts of the braking system, not in the electronic control system.
5 Drive anti-skid control indicator
The pattern of the drive anti-skid control system (ASR) indicator is a "△" symbol in the circle.
For example, FAW Bora 1.8T sedan has a driving anti-skid control function. When the car is accelerating, if ASR detects that the wheels have a tendency to slip, it will reduce the engine output torque by intermittently shutting off fuel injection and retarding the ignition advance angle to adjust Traction force prevents the drive wheels from slipping.
ASR can work with ABS in any speed range. When the ignition switch is turned on, ASR is automatically activated, which is the so-called "default selection". The driver can manually cancel the drive anti-skid control through the ASR button on the dashboard. When the ASR indicator on the dashboard lights up, it means that ASR has been turned off.
In the following situations, a certain degree of wheel slip is required, and the ASR system should be turned off.
(1) Snow chains are installed on the wheels.
(2) The car is driving on snow or soft roads.
(3) The car is stuck somewhere and needs to move back and forth to get out of the predicament.
(4) When the car starts on a slope, but the adhesion of one wheel is extremely low (for example, the right tire is on an ice surface, and the left tire is on a dry road).
If the above situation does not exist, do not turn off ASR. Once the ASR indicator light is on during the driving of the car, it means that the electronic control unit (ECU) has turned off the drive anti-skid system, and the driver will feel the steering wheel is operating heavily. According to the working principle of the ABS/ASR system, when the system fails, the transmission of the wheel speed sensor signal will be interrupted, so that other control systems on the car (such as the steering assist system) that require the wheel speed signal to work normally will be affected at the same time. Only when the ASR fault is eliminated, the heavy steering wheel operation will disappear.
6 Airbag indicator
The airbag system (SRS) indicator light has three display methods, one is the word "SRS", the other is the word "AIR BAG" (Toyota cars produced before August 1992), and the third is the "airbag protects the occupant" graphic.
The main function of the SRS indicator light is to indicate whether the airbag system is in a normal state, and it also has a fault self-diagnosis function. If the SRS indicator light is always on after the ignition switch is turned to the ON (or ACC) position, and the fault code is retrieved and the display is normal, it means that the voltage of the battery (or the backup power supply of the SRS electronic control unit) is too low, but the SRS electronic control unit is designed This fault is not compiled into a code and stored in the memory, so there is no fault code display. When the power supply voltage returns to normal about 10s, the SRS indicator will automatically go out.
Since SRS is not used normally, it will be scrapped once it is used. Therefore, the system does not show malfunctions during use like other systems on the car. It must rely on the self-diagnosis function to find out the cause of the malfunction. Therefore, the indicator light and malfunction of SRS The code becomes the most important source of fault information and diagnosis basis.
7 Hazard warning lights
Hazard warning lights are used to warn other vehicles and pedestrians when the car has a major failure or emergency. The hazard warning signal is represented by the front, rear, left and right turn signals flashing at the same time.
The hazard warning light is controlled by an independent switch, and generally shares a flasher with the turn signal light. When the hazard warning light switch is turned on, the turn indicator circuits on both sides are turned on at the same time, and the front, rear, left, and right turn indicators and the turn indicators on the instrument panel flash at the same time. Since the hazard warning light circuit connects the flasher to the battery, the hazard warning light can also be used when the ignition switch is turned off (OFF) and parking.
8 Battery indicator
An indicator light showing the working status of the battery. It lights up when the switch is turned on, and goes out after the engine starts. If it does not light up or stays on for a long time, check the generator and circuit immediately.
9 Fuel indicator
An indicator light that indicates insufficient fuel. When the light is on, it means that the fuel is about to run out. Generally, the vehicle can travel about 50 kilometers from the time the light is on to the time when the fuel runs out.
10 Washing fluid indicator
The indicator light showing the stock of windshield washer fluid. If the washer fluid is about to run out, the light will be on to remind the owner to add the washer fluid in time. After adding the cleaning solution, the indicator light goes out.
11 Electronic throttle indicator
This light is mostly seen in Volkswagen’s models. When the vehicle starts self-inspection, the EPC light will illuminate for a few seconds and then turn off. If a malfunction occurs, the light will be on and it should be overhauled in time.
12 Front and rear fog lamp indicators
The indicator light is used to show the working conditions of the front and rear fog lamps. When the front and rear fog lamps are switched on, the two lamps will light up.
13 Turn indicator
When the turn signal is on, the corresponding turn signal flashes at a certain frequency. When the double flashing warning light button is pressed, the two lights will light up at the same time, and the indicator light will automatically go out after the turn signal is off.
14 High beam indicator
Shows whether the headlights are in the high beam state. Normally, the indicator light is off. It lights up when the instrument panel high beam is turned on and when the high beam instantaneous light function is used.
15 Seat belt indicator
The indicator light showing the status of the seat belt, depending on the model, the light will be on for a few seconds to give a reminder, or it will not go out until the seat belt is fastened, and some cars will also have a sound reminder.
16 O/D block indicator
The O/D gear indicator light is used to display the working status of the automatic gear O/D gear (Over-Drive) overdrive gear. When the O/D gear indicator light flashes, it means that the O/D gear is locked.
17 Inner loop indicator
The indicator light is used to show the working status of the vehicle's air-conditioning system, and it is usually off. When the inner loop button is turned on and the vehicle closes the outer loop, the indicator light will automatically light up.
18 Width indicator
The width indicator light is used to show the working status of the vehicle width indicator light. It is usually off. When the width indicator light is turned on, the indicator light will light up immediately.
19 VSC indicator
This indicator light is used to display the working status of the vehicle's VSC (Electronic Body Stability System), and it mostly appears on Japanese cars. When the indicator light is on, it means that the VSC system has been shut down.
20 TCS indicator
This indicator light is used to display the working status of the vehicle's TCS (Traction Control System), and it mostly appears on Japanese cars. When the indicator light is on, it means that the TCS system has been shut down.
